Form and light
Ellis is a compact outdoor sconce that casts light upward and downward across a wall. Its triangular body gives the fixture a sculptural presence while keeping the geometry simple. The design considers both the object on the wall and the light it casts beyond its edges.
I worked on the form and proportions with that relationship in mind. The fixture needed enough definition to stand on its own, while remaining restrained beside the architecture around it.
A compact object
The aluminum body brings the two directions of light into a single symmetrical form. Clear glass lenses and powder-coated finishes complete the exterior fixture. Rather than adding more visual elements, the design places emphasis on the silhouette, its depth and its relationship to the wall.
From design to handoff
I led Ellis from the initial concept to production handoff, defining its form, proportions and the intent behind the key details. Kuzco's engineering team then refined the design for manufacturing, retaining the core structure and direction of the original development. Ellis became part of Kuzco's exterior lighting collection.
